3/4 C brown rice – long grain
1/2 C orzo (broken up vermicilli or angel hair pasta will do)
2 T butter
3-4 C water
2 T beef boullion granules
1/3 C onion – chopped
1 T parsley
1 – 2 t garlic powder (or to taste)
1/8 – 1/4 t thyme
10 threads of saffron (opt.)
Melt butter in cooking pan. Add rice, orzo, and onion. Sautee until lightly browned. Add remaining ingredients and cook 45 minutes.
If you use long grain white rice – use the lesser amount of water & cook for 20 minutes.
