Just as good-tasting as cabbage rolls, but easier & faster to make.
1 lb ground meat (beef or beef/pork combo)
2 C cooked rice
1 med. onion- chopped
2 T butter
2 lb cabbage-chopped
1-8oz can chopped tomatoes or tomato sauce
salt & pepper
Mix meat, rice, onion, butter, egg. Salt & pepper to taste.
Grease a 3 Qt. baking dish.
Line bottom w/ half of the cabbage then 1/2 the meat. Repeat. Top w/tomatoes.
Bake @ 350F for 1 hour covered and then 30 min uncovered.
The original recipe did not state cooked or uncooked ground meat. I cooked the meat first, added a bit of water to replace the drained fat, and did not bake it as long.
