This is a list of FLOTUS attendants. FLOTUS is a “position” that carries no official duties, although it is allowed for them to have a ‘staff’ as it benefits the President to better charge his duties. I certainly wouldn’t expect one woman to orchestrate all the social goings-on of the Office of the President. The woman needs some help, for sure and some women obviously need more help than others. But honestly, more directors, deputies, assistants, and secretaries than a General running an entire military base. Does it really take this many people to read email, plan European vacations, and throw a state dinner? Puuuhhhhleeezzz…….NOT worth it! Where’s the ‘sacrifice’ here? Are they all wearing $540 sneakers to charity functions? Oh wait…that is another story.
Just a little dose of perspective: Mamie Eisenhower had to pay her own press secretary’s salary…not the taxpayers and she was not the only First Lady that did this. Jackie Kennedy reportedly had 40 staff members. WOW, but it takes a lot more to run Camelot than the WH. Hillary had a little less than 20 but had a bunch of interns (no pun intended). I don’t know how many staffers Nancy Reagan had….and I believe she was the queen of state dinners….so probably a lot. I mean they didn’t call her DragonLady for nothing, I’m sure. I found all this interesting in these troubling times dubbed the Great Recession. FWIW.
So—how many FLOTUS staffers does it take to read an email?
THREE apparently…not including the First Lady herself b/c she is not a paid staffer. (but the benefits are to die for!)
1. SPECIAL ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT AND DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS FOR THE FIRST LADY
2. ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF CORRESPONDENCE FOR THE FIRST LADY
3. DEPUTY ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF CORRESPONDENCE FOR THE FIRST LADY
I wonder…how many it takes to actually reply to an email?
I feel a Dilbert moment coming on.
OK, on to more impotent things.
What a quagmire. Long-form birth certificate, short-form certification, Grandma Sarah, signed affidavits by Kenyans, a hospital that will neither confirm nor deny, plus $2 million and counting in legal fees to keep the “origins of birth” a secret. The whole thing has an o-dour.
“I think it’s important to understand that we’ve got a short-term challenge which, no matter how big our stimulus was, was going to be a challenge — partly because we’ve got fiscal constraints,” –Obama
Most of us call those pesky “fiscal constraints”, ……A BUDGET!!!
“I don’t take anything off the table when unemployment is close to 10 percent and a lot of Americans are hurting out there,” –Obama
Nothing like a little tea bag to draw out some of that hurt. Taxed Enough Already!
And how about that White House transparency?
